Barefoot Day

Durban Girls College celebrated Barefoot Day on April 16 by going to school without shoes, raising awareness of those who do not possess such 'luxuries'. They collected twelve boxes of shoes that day and donated them to I Care for us to distribute to street children. Because of this kind gesture there are now a lot of children who have shoes on their feet for the first time and, let's face it, even in Durban bare feet can be chilly at night in winter.
So, our thanks go out to the girls from Durban Girls High for their generosity and their bravery in attending school without shoes on April 16.
The picture shows some of the girls with just a few of the many pairs of shoes which were donated.
