Team Building

On Tuesday, July 10, the entire I Care staff, volunteers and boys from our various projects: the I Care homes, the rehabilitation centre and the street children from the Hope Centre united for a get-together at Essenwood Park on the Berea in Durban. It proved to be a real fun day for everyone. The boys and staff were brought together for team-building, to catch up with each other's news and to encourage the importance of working together as a team for I Care.
There was a potato and spoon race (eggs proving too expensive), a balloon-popping competition, water obstacle course and other fun games, includng a football match - all enjoyed by boys and staff alike.
Boerwors rolls, expertly cooked by Cedric and Darryn and accompanied with cool drinks were very welcome after all the excitement.
Thanks to our two volunteers - Bertine from Be More and Lara, a UKZN social work student, ably assisted by I Care's Aimee - for organizing the entertainment and the games.
Tuesday the 10th was a day of sunshine and fun shared by an enthusiastic I Care team and bears repeating in future school holidays.

DSTV's Be More project

DSTV's initiative "Be More" is again on line. The company will donate R200,000 to the charity with the most votes so we are asking friends to nominate us by either smsing "Care - I Care" to 32512 or go to

Rivers Church Durban

The good folks who attend Rivers Church in Glen Anil, Durban, are regular donors to I Care. They often send us clothes and food for the boys but last week they really did us proud. They had collected hundreds of blankets for our houses and for the boys who visit our Hope Centre to help to keep them warm because even in Durban it can get quite chilly at night.
I Care says a very big THANK YOU to Rivers Church for their on-going support and especially for the blankets.
Seen in the picture are Shirley van Rensburg and Aimee Foss from I Care and Tanya Liebenberg from Rivers Church, Glenanil on the right.
