Final Graduation for 2012

On December 19 twenty two of our boys garduated from Khuthaza at the end of their three month rehabilitation course. We shared a lovely day with them and a few of their parents.
All the boys were givern new clothes and shoes for the occasion and were clearly delighted with their 'new look'. They gave guests a short concert, singing Christmas carols along with Thulile, our rehab. manager.
Sandile gave an inspiring talk, stressing how I Care had helped them to deal with problems that arise from being a street child and trusting them to follow guide lines for their future.
At the end of the afternoon everyone present was treated to a delicious meal.
We wish all our boys good luck and success in the coming years.

Christmas Party 2012

I Care and Umthombo were treated to a Christmas Party, hosted by Word and Worship Church in Phoenix, North of Durban. These kind people supplied the boys with a KFC meal of hot dogs, chips and cool drinks, accompanied by a toy for each child.
Thank you to Rev. C. Ramduth and his wife, Pastor Soni Ramduth, plus all the volunteers from their congregation.
The weather was kind and the boys had a fun-filled day, playing games, riding bicycles and go-carts as well as enjoying the amenities that the Green Hub at Blue Lagoon had to offer.
Ending the day on a high note, each child was given a shoebox filled with all manner of interesting goodies including items of stationery, toys, sweets etc. all collected for them by pupils from local schools, plus delicious chocolates from Nestle.

Ladies Tea & Open Day

On Wednesday, November 21 we celebrated Christmas with the ladies. These friends were asked to host a table on the theme of Christmas with a touch of pink and silver and invite 8 other ladies to join their table. Jacqui Terblanche, Nadia Botes and Lara Plumtree were I Care's guests and asked to share their stories with us. They gave us a better understanding into the 'not always' glamorous life of a rugby player's wife.
We received an amazing response to the tea and were overwhelmed by the ladies' support.
The Open Day that followed was supported by 55 exhibitors and was voted a great success.
