Hope Centre Needs

Thulile and Bhekani obviously need a table and a couple of chairs. They are not alone. The boys also have to work on their tummies to do their art work. Has anybody got a few tables and chairs to spare for our Hope Centre, please?

Meet the Team

An "Awareness Day"
was held at Hyper-by-the-Sea in Durban North on Saturday, 19 September. It was a great success. We met some wonderful people and signed up several new donors and Debit Orders. One kind gentleman donated a brand new table tennis table. Lunch was provided for the boys and the I Care office volunteers by the "Crave" cafe management - Leemor Berkowitz and Themba Tshabalala. Much appreciated too.

Old Mutual's Gift

I Care was thrilled to receive a cheque for R15,000.00 from Old Mutual on Friday, 18 September 2009. The cheque was handed to the boys by the representatives of Old Mutual - Ben Bulo, Area Manager; Renu Baldeo, Senior Financial Adviser; Mohammed Ebrahim - Sales Manager and two of their Financial Adviser's, Zaakir Gaffoor and Mtholo Dludla. Denise Cochrane, our Chairman, thanked Old Mutual on behalf of the boys and Ben Bulo responded, saying it was good to know that the donation was going to help some of the disadvantaged children in KZN. He hoped that the R15,000.00 was just the start of an on-going commitment to I Care.

The Museum

A couple of the boys being dwarfed by the model of a T. Rex while visitng the Science Museum. They were all fascinated by the stuffed animals and birds and showed a great interest in everything that was on display. "When can we come back?" was the plea of one of the youngsters.

Skills Development Training

Two young students have been enrolled at PAX College, sponsored by donors to the Skills Development initiatives of I Care.
I Care will pay 25% of the annual study fee, the external study fee and the cost of transport for each student.
Both students are studying Tourism which is a Guilds of London two-year diploma course. First year subjects are: Customer Service, Marketing, Tourism Geography, Development of the Tourism Induatry, Resevations and Ticketing.
The owner of PAX College, Mrs. Brenda Govender, has made all this possible with the offer of bursary opportunities to I Care-identified learners. I Care appreciates her generosity.
